Before You Buy Baskets…
It’s okay to admit that you “buy baskets like crazy.” Each style and shape, striking a pose on warehouse shelves and in exhibitors’ booths, seem to call your name, convincing you to take it home before you have a design in mind.
There’s nothing wrong with buying inventory; it’s overbuying that gets us into trouble.
If you’re new (or a veteran) to gift baskets, this page provides some ideas on what to choose.
Here’s a three-part plan to stay in the profit zone.
1. Count the number of designs you created in the first six months of 2007, and determine if you can fill the same amount or more in the same time frame. This will depend on your area’s economic climate and how many new clients purchased last year.
2. Document the style, cost, and seller of the baskets you want to buy. Ask a representative how many pieces are in stock so you have a general idea about future availability if needed at a moment’s notice.
3. Consider buying nested styles, which not only saves money (in most cases), but also saves space while in storage. Need help pricing nested baskets? You’ll find a chart on this page.
With careful planning, you’ll buy a broad variety of baskets, satisfy customers, and stay within budget.
